Safe AI use instead of grey areas: ZALF spin-off UNAIT launches governance software against legal uncertainty, fines and loss of trust
The Berlin start-up makes the use of AI in companies, universities and public administrations auditable, with legally reviewed rule logic instead of AI-based monitoring.
UNAIT GmbH brings its software for AI governance and AI compliance to the German market on 1 October 2026. UNAIT helps organisations record their AI applications, classify them into a risk class under the EU AI Act and document the resulting obligations in an audit-ready way. The company was founded in July 2026 as a spin-off from the administration of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF). A large German university is among the first pilot institutions. ZALF is introducing the software in regular operation.
